Fish Lake Eucumbene and the Mountain Rivers

The Snowy Mountains are renowned for freshwater fishing. Lake Eucumbene and nearby rivers are stocked with brown trout and rainbow trout.

Try your hand at fly, spinner, trolling or bait fishing.

Bait and fishing tackle, boat hire and fishing charters are available around Adaminaby and Lake Eucumbene, with friendly advice from experienced fishers.

Snowy Trout Challenge

This season's Snowy Trout Challenge runs from October to April. ANYONE who can catch a fish has the chance to win some fantastic prizes.

600 tagged rainbow trout have been released this season into the Snowy Mountains lakes. The numbered tag is easy to see. This year's tag colour is GREEN.

How do I take part in the Challenge?

Simply come and fish!

Come as often as you want up to 30 April 2025. If you catch a tagged trout, tke a photo of your fish & tag and register your catch.

What should I do if I catch a tagged trout?

Check the Challenge Facebook page, their website or the Terms & Conditions for instructions on how to record your catch and enter the prize draw.

Snowy Mountains Trout Festival
